Madras (Ojochal - Uvita)
Partway between Ojochal and Uvita is Madras, an eclectic restaurant built into the home of the French owners serving Indian cuisine.
After years of isolation (no phone or internet) and an excellent reputation built solely on word-of mouth, Madras now boasts a phone!
Location: at Playa Ballena just 5 minutes north of the Ventanas Plaza near the 170km highway marker. There a restaurant sign on the mountain-side of the highway - take the road up the hill to the first left and descend down to the parking lot.

The Dome (Uvita)
Just south of Uvita after crossing the Rio Uvita bridge and the landmark for the ocean-side shopping plaza is The Dome Restaurant, which also serves as an information center for things to do in the Uvita-Ojochal area.
The menu emphasizes local, high quality organic produce - highlights are burritos and hamburgers served up with a selection of different sauces and spices, including the proprietary Dome Sauce. The Breakfast Burrito is a real treat, and the juices and smoothies are made directly from fresh fruit. Internet access is available.
The Dome has expanded their menu and hours to include dinner.

A little further out just south of Dominical, we highly recommend La Parcela which is located high up on a point jutting out to the ocean and boasts great views of the ocean and coastline both north and south.
Menu is local traditional. La Parcela is open for lunch and dinner. Reservations can be made through their

Shopping for Food and Liquor
There is a liquor store with a good selection in the Cinco Ventanas strip mall right beside Cinco Ventanas Road next to the service station (shown as Licorera on lower-left corner on the map above).
B&M has two supermarkets in Uvita, each with its own selection of costa rican and american products. They have most everything you need for in-house meals and BBQing. You'll find meat, chicken, vegetables, fruit and liquor along with a good selection of breakfast foods, juices, soft drinks and snacks.
The best place to buy fresh fish is on the road to Playa Tortuga just south of the road into Ojochal. A fisherman lives in the first house on the right.
On Fridays the fishermen bring their cooler with fresh fish to the main entrance of Ojochal and setup near the Guarana Bar and local variety store.
